by Elizabeth Avalos on November 10, 2024

After the indulgence of Thanksgiving, what could be better than a comforting, flavorful dish to help you recover and refuel for game day? Enter Birria Soup made with Spice Orbs—the perfect combination of hearty comfort and rich, aromatic spices to keep you cozy and energized. Here’s how to make this post-holiday meal that’s sure to impress your friends and family.

Why Birria Soup?

Birria soup is known for its deep, savory broth and tender, slow-cooked meat. Using the Birria Spice Orb, you can effortlessly infuse your dish with traditional Mexican flavors that are bold and satisfying. It’s an ideal way to repurpose any leftover turkey or simply create a fresh, hearty meal to enjoy during game day festivities.

 Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 1 Birria Spice Orb (large or medium, depending on your serving size)
  • Shredded leftover turkey (or chuck roast)
  • 6 cups of chicken broth or water
  • 1 can of hominy (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges for serving
  • Optional toppings: diced onions, radishes, and sliced avocado

Instructions:

  1. Add the Broth and Spice Orb: Pour in the broth and add the Birria Spice Orb. Stir until the orb is dissolved and the broth is infused with rich flavors.
  2. Incorporate the Meat and Hominy: Add the shredded turkey and hominy (if using) to the pot. Let simmer for 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Ladle the soup into bowls and top with fresh cilantro, diced onions, and a squeeze of lime. Add sliced avocado for an extra touch of indulgence.
